Owen began his love of sports at the age of 7 when he joined his local rugby club, based in South Wales. At 14 he decided that to optimise his performance on the field, he would need to spend time in the gym.
At university, Owen slotted into a local national-league rugby side, as well as representing Kent County in rugby. Through his continuation of strength and fitness training for his sport, he found crossfit.com. Initially, with there being no nearby CrossFit facility, he began practicing CrossFit workouts at his local park, with the little home-made equipment he had available (including a kettlebell, plyo-box and basketball filled with sand!). When he returned back to South Wales he joined Reebok CrossFit Cardiff, and was lucky enough to experience one of the greatest communities in the country. He began his coaching at Elite Body Conditioning, a rugby-focussed strength & conditioning facility in South Wales, eventually moving back to Kent to take up a coaching post at NWK CrossFit. Owen has since become competitive in both CrossFit and Weightlifting.
“My main goals are to create the best community possible at CrossFit Aylesbury, whilst passing on my passion for CrossFit to our members! I would also like to continue to progress and compete within CrossFit and Olympic-style Weightlifting.”
Maddy has a long history in competitive sports, at the age of 10 she became a competitive club swimmer later going on to compete at both regional and national levels. As well as this, Maddy has also gained her 1st Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do – all whilst at studying at school and lifeguarding at a local swimming pool.
Maddy first found CrossFit whilst studying for her sports degree at the University of Kent. She attended a strength and conditioning programme (put on by a certain Owen Jones) and found an instant passion and talent for CrossFit. She then began training at local affiliate, NWK CrossFit. After only 1 year of training Maddy began to compete in both CrossFit and Weightlifting, to great success. She has placed top-20 at some major CrossFit competitions (including a 16th place finish at last year Battle of the Beasts), mixing it up with some of the best athletes in Europe. She has also achieved great success at multiple weightlifting competitions, including a 5th place finish at the English National Championships but, perhaps most notably, winning the British Students Championships.
“My goal is to create a positive and competitive atmosphere at CrossFit Aylesbury. I want to help all members achieve their personal goals no matter how big or small! My personal goal is to continue with my success in competitive Weightlifting and eventually compete at the CrossFit Regionals.”

sporting activities took place in secondary school!
A few years later her son (Owen) discovered CrossFit and bought her an ‘On-Ramp’ course at Reebok CrossFit Cardiff for Mothers’ day. She was initially skeptical but soon became hooked. Jane soon discovered a new passion and some great athletic potential – after just a few years Jane has become competitive in both Masters CrossFit and Weightlifting.
Since becoming competitive Jane has achieved some remarkable stuff in a short space of time – including a 30th place finish within Europe in the CrossFit Open, a British Weightlifting gold and a European Weightlifting silver medal.
“My goal over the next year is to compete at next year's World Masters Weightlifting Championships in Germany, with an aim to have a crack at breaking some World Records! I also hope to help build a fantastic family at CrossFit Aylesbury!”
Adam began his fitness journey as a personal trainer, working in a regular ‘globo’ gym. When travelling in Australia he found CrossFit and was immediately hooked! A few months after joining CrossFit Milton, he took his CrossFit Level 1 and has never looked back! When he returned to the UK he set up his own successful functional fitness business, co-owning 'The Train Station'. Adam is incredibly proud of the community and reputation that was built over his 2 years there, his ambition was always to eventually coach in a CrossFit affiliate! Adam has had a glimpse of competing in a variety of fitness competitions including "European Inferno" and "The Superhuman Games", this is something he intends to do more of.
"My goal at CrossFit Aylesbury is to share my love and enthusiasm for CrossFit with our members, making their time in the gym as fun and valuable as possible, helping them achieve the amazing things they maybe never thought possible. I look forward to helping build and being part of an incredible CrossFit community. My aim is to compete in fitness competitions nationally either individually or team at a higher level."
