Please be aware that we have had to amend our original Christmas opening hours (original list pictured below). This is due to some roof repairs that are now being carried out over the festive period. Our amended hours as follows:
Saturday 24th - CLOSED
Sunday 25th - CLOSED
Monday 26th - CLOSED
Tuesday 27th - The gym itself will be CLOSED, HOWEVER...
We will be running 'classes' at NORMAL TIMES, meeting point at the gym where you will be guided by one of our regular coaches. The WOD for these classes will be...For Time...Run 5K.
From there we will have had more contact with the relevant sources to ensure all repairs are completed.
Therefore our plan is as follows;
We will continue to post WODs on our website and facebook pages for the days we are closed (24th & 26th). ALL of these WODs will be suitable for completion at home.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Enjoy Christmas and we will see you all soon!
- What is your favourite moment since starting CrossFit?
Well that’s easy… the community! I have loved getting to know everyone at the box. Everyone is so supportive and friendly. It’s commonly seen on Facebook or Instagram about #crossfitfamily and before joining CrossFit I would often eye roll when reading this, having been a member of basically every conventional gym, I have never made #gymfamily; Everyone comes in to do their work outs and go but CrossFit truly is different and living away from our family here in Aylesbury, I do feel that the friends I have made at CrossFit Aylesbury have become our family.
Honestly I HATE them all! But I probably shouldn’t say that. I do however like the hero or girl WODs as when they are repeated, you are able to see progress you have made which often gets missed (well I’m told this as I’ve not repeated any yet). Otherwise I would say squats - putting this big arse to good use!
-When did you start at CrossFit Aylesbury and why?
I started CrossFit in July this year. Evan (the bodyweight ninja) had been interested in CrossFit for some time and was often banging on about it at home. When we were members of the same conventional gym we would occasionally do a workout together which would be a WOD from the main CrossFit website adapted to a conventional gym setting, often running between the machines and receiving funny faces from other gym goers. I enjoyed these but joint workouts with Evan were few and far between as I attended classes and honestly Evan tells me I talk too much in a workout and it distracts him! haha! Evan then left our gym when realising there was a CrossFit gym locally and joined CrossFit Aylesbury in February (I think) and well the talk about CrossFit became endless - constantly boasting about the workouts and the community. At the time, I wasn’t convinced about leaving my conventional gym of spin classes, yoga and boxercise. But then I attended a few of the social gatherings, and everyone was so friendly and I guess peer pressure got the better of me… thankfully as it’s the best decision I made!
-What impact has CrossFit had on you since beginning?
My whole outlook on exercise has changed. I have always been a gym goer and honestly exercising for vanity reasons, wanting to look good at an event or even just wanting to fit back into my favourite pair of jeans. I would attend my classes, push myself to the minute timer/end of the song/looking at myself in all those hideous full length gym mirrors, analysing what I looked like compared to others - then I'd go home and repeat the next day.
The first thing I noticed about CrossFit Aylesbury was that there are NO MIRRORS; goals are not based on what you look like. And I can honestly say my body confidence has massively increased, realising that being able to be functional with my body is more important than fitting into a pair of jeans. However, saying that, I have noticed a big difference in my shape since starting CrossFit Aylesbury than other gyms (those favourite pair of jeans are actually loose) but my goals when I attend now are to lift heavier, run faster, work harder than my last WOD all while basically having a laugh with my #crossfitfamily
-What are your future goals?
Too many to say really! There are many gymnastic movements that I am currently unable to do (pull ups/ toes to bar/ handstand push ups/ double unders). My goal is to keep working towards being able to do these, alongside continuing to increase my weight on barbell movements, get fitter and be faster in my workouts. And well I am still a girl after all, and getting married in May - I want to have a BANGING body for the honeymoon!
